A note from our TEFL course director
My name is John, and I'm the Academic Director at TtMadrid. Together with the rest of the team I'll help guide you through the steps into becoming a fully fledged TEFL English teacher and successfully complete the program (and hopefully teach you a few British-isms along the way!).
Our program is as it says in the title, intensive, in fact, it's extremely intensive. So I'll be there to share the high and lows, the laughter and the occasional tears as we work through each of the four weeks in the course. As a graduate of TtMadrid, I completed the course a few years ago, so I know what it's like to be on the other side of the whiteboard! I appreciate that you'll strive to do your best and at times feel overwhelmed with much of the information, particularly in the first week. Not coming from a teaching background and having decided on a career change, I too had to make the painstaking switch and therefore I can empathise with amount of information and new techniques that you'll be learning at a rapid pace from day one right until the final day of the course when you'll meet the moderator and be presented your TEFL certificate.
As a trainee on our program, you'll get all the support you need both during the course and after the course. Upon completing our program you'll be fully prepared and a cut above the rest to go forth and teach! Using accelerated learning techniques and a system of peer help I'll ensure you get the most out of the often, daunting teaching practices and make sure that you improve your teaching techniques with each session. Building on each challenge is something you'll come to excel at, especially as you tackle the grammar sessions head on and get a good grasp on the present perfect and other grammatical terminology!!!
Apart from being academically challenging, the change of career, culture and country all adds to the experience that you'll get during and after the course. This is a momentous, and for many a life changing experience, one that I can confidently say will both test you, challenge you, but above all enlighten you, whether you're an experienced teacher, or entirely new to the world of teaching.
I look forward to meeting you on the course and watching you develop into a great teacher.
John Hewson
Academic Director.
