Contact us while the market is still hot. Be Realistic About Accommodation Accommodation is a difficult issue in Spain, and we will help you as much as possible. We will send you an Accommodation Request Form that you will need to fill out. Once we have received it back completed, we will send it to an agency to begin their search. Please be aware that accommodation is much more complicated in Spain than what you are probably used to, and it may or may not be what you expect. Young students in Spain tend to study near their home towns and live with their parents into their 30s, and this is still considered very young. Many people who consider themselves non-smokers may just be LIGHT smokers. Many landlords rent out extra rooms in their apartment and will live in the same flat with their boarders. Please be aware of these cultural issues and be open-minded as you enter a new country. After sending your details to the agency we work with, they will let us know a week or so before you arrive (not earlier), what flats are available that will be suitable for you. This is very dependant on your arrival date. They will send us all of the information they have on it, and we will send it to you with as much as we can tell you about the neighborhood, etc. Once you approve the flat, we will send confirmation to the agency who will arrange for someone to be at the flat with keys when you arrive. On the first business day after your arrival, you will need to go to the agency with your fees in cash. The fees are: 60 euro service fee, 180 euro one-time deposit, and 450 for the first month of rent. You will always pay the agency directly, as neither the landlords nor us deal directly with your finances regarding rent. After the first month, you will return to the agency every 4 weeks to pay 450 euros. Finding Work Please remember that we can't guarantee work if you buy our Lifestyle Package. The reason for this is that we haven't trained you and can't attest to the quality of the training you have received. Our graduates are highly sought after because we do a TEFL Plus course, which prepares them for the Spanish market. However, we will arrange interviews for you with some of the leading language academies in Madrid. If you have the teaching skills, with the current teacher shortage in Madrid, we foresee no problems obtaining work here. If you don't have a TEFL yet, our course contains everything that an ordinary TEFL does plus market specific components. We recommend completing a TEFL course with an accredited institution – go to our 'What is TEFL accreditation?' page for more information. From our experience graduates from residential courses are much better prepared and confident teachers than those that have completed online TEFL courses. But why risk it?
